Mirror of the Olymp
Last week we visited Ephesus. We arrived in the Ephesus area on Thursday. It was a rather hot day. At the bus station we found nearly 20 tourist buses. On that day three big liners arrived in Kushadasi. That’s why our waiting in a line (or in a queue) exhausted us. We were starting to get nervous, because in general it took us an hour. But we were very hopeful that we would see a wonderful historical place. Just in case we took some fruits for the lunch time. And it was our brilliant idea becaus
e we had spent much energy on walking under baking sun. I was accompanied by my friend, colleague and the child-minder of my little sun Elena.
Ephesus was a big and developed city when Rome was just a modest village. This monument of antiquity is nearly 5 thousand years old. The ruins of the ancient city are (situated) 5 km from Selchuk, and 21 km from Kusadasi. Ephesus was founded by the tribes of kari about which now u can’t find many historical records …
These tribes have
left the cult of the fertility God to remeber them by. Later Ephesus was conquered by the Greeks. And the cult of the fertility God was established along with the cult of Artemida, the daughter of Zeus, a virgin and patroness of maternity.
It was incredible experience and I am glad that we did it. With my friend we had been thinking over the way of how we could do it per long time. Because it depended on different circumstances on the comany, where I am working in Turkey. Surely it mostly depended on my baby because he had just started his kinder-garten life. And only because Yaromir behaved all right we could do it. To take this trip i had to resist the pressure from different sides. And I have performed all my duties very well for leaving (to leave) Kusadasi on that day.
